If you do not feel comfortable telling your employer or co-workers about your cancer it's OK. Make your decision based on what feels right for you. It's your decision on when, how much, and whom to tell. You may want to confide in your immediate supervisor so arrangements can be made if you need to use sick leave for medical or other appointments.

The "American With Disabilities Act" (ADA) provides rights and protection for cancer patients. Your employer may have a copy and it's available at most libraries.

If you anticipate trouble, protect yourself. Review the Act and know your rights.
