| If you do not feel comfortable telling your
employer or co-workers about your cancer it's OK. Make your decision based on what feels
right for you. It's your decision on when, how much, and whom to tell. You may want to
confide in your immediate supervisor so arrangements can be made if you need to use sick
leave for medical or other appointments. The "American
With Disabilities Act" (ADA) provides rights and protection for cancer patients. Your
employer may have a copy and it's available at most libraries.
If you anticipate trouble, protect yourself. Review
the Act and know your rights.
