| As much as we would like to believe
otherwise, none of us will get out of this world alive. There
will come a time when we will have to close the chapter on our life here on Earth.
It is imperative that we acknowledge this reality. While it
is important to be proactive in treatments, to seek new and better ways to treat cancer,
it is sad and heartbreaking to see someone spend their time and money chasing an
impossible goal, or worse, line the pockets of the all-too-willing charlatans who thrive
on our misfortune.
When a team of medical professionals and the patient agree
that the patient is at end term, meaning a terminal prognosis with no hope for recovery, a
referral should be made to a hospice or a social worker who specializes in grief
counseling. Please see our resources on hospice
care issues.
There can be great comfort in the spiritual acceptance and
healing that can come through such sources.
This section of our web site contains information that will
be helpful to families and friends in dealing with the feelings of grief
and loss that will be experienced. We also have included a section on how to deal with
the emotions experienced when there are unresolved issues.
We hope this information will prove helpful to you.
