Exercise as a coping
mechanism is more than an exercise program.
It is not meant to be singularly-focused. It
is not designed to:
Make you lose weight,
Sculpt your body, or
Improve your appearance,
Although, all of these may result.
The purpose of using exercise to cope with
cancer or any other serious illness is to:
Increase your body's potential to meet the difficult challenges,
Develop a well-centered sense of well-being, and
Help you stay focused on the positive things you can do to improve your
life.
The exercise may be as strenuous as a gym
workout or as gentle as movement to music from a wheelchair. The method is less important
than the message and the consistency with which it is applied.
