Physical support is often
needed as we struggle to fight our battles against cancer.
We may need help in transportation, food
preparation, laundry, cleaning, childcare, and any number of other areas of our lives.
Do not hestitate to ask for help. Don't think
you are helpless because you need help. You deserve help - and believe me, others will be
happy to help you.
If you don't have family or a circle of
friends nearby, don't hesitate to contact other resources. A local church; a city, county,
or state department of social or human services; a local hospital or care facility; or
even community and school groups involved in community service.
You may also want to talk with your doctor
about your need for help to see if a referral can be made to a social worker or therapist
that specializes in working with cancer patients.
As a starting point, read our list of questions to ask your therapist.
